Breednet: The Mission Off The Mark
A close-up second on debut in the $75,000 Pat O’Shea Stakes at Toowoomba on September 5, Mishani Warfare clocked in third in the $105,000 Widden – Basil Nolan Jnr Plate (1000m) at Eagle Farm on October 9. He took the step-up to 1200m in his stride on Saturday. With Jackson Morris in the saddle, Mishani Warfare pushed through to take up the running, and he was not for catching.
The son of The Mission kept up a strong gallop in the straight to defeat Mishani Persuasion (Heroic Valour) by one and three-quarter lengths with a further two and a half lengths back to Cocobrew Express (Spill The Beans) in third.
A homebred for Mike Cooks’ Mishani Enterprises, Mishani Warfare is the second and final foal of the unraced Denman mare Mishani Harmony, a descendant of the Group 1 QTC Queensland Oaks heroine Travel Light.
Like the high-flying Starspangledbanner, The Mission is a Group 1 winning son of Choisir.
Among the best two-year-olds of his year, The Mission won the Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes (1600m) and the Group III Schweppervescence (1400).
